Product delivers weather, flight restriction and alert information directly to cell phone
September 16, 2009 – PilotGEEK, LLC an innovative business that develops software-based products for private pilots, has partnered with Aviation Business Consultants International, Inc. to promote its proprietary Cell Briefer product.
“I’m very pleased to be part of the effort to publicize PilotGEEK’s cell briefer, ”said Paula Williams, marketing consultant with ABCI. “PilotGEEK provides pilots convenient access to more and better information. I’ve recently become a pilot myself, and I understand that although you may have checked weather and notices at the FBO prior to the flight, things can change quickly. It could be hours from the time you have access to a computer to the time the flight takes place. And there are many occasions that you don’t have a means to check for updates between legs of a cross-country trip. It’s great to see a product that uses technology to make aviation safer and more convenient.”
“The easy access to critical weather and safety information that my PilotGEEK Cell Briefer offers has filled a critical need for many pilots since it was first launched,” said Tom Nery, Manager of PilotGEEK, LLC. “I’m certain that my partnership with ABCI will introduce the Cell Briefer to a larger audience of pilots; I look forward to working with Paula Williams and the staff at ABCI as we take the PilotGEEK Cell Briefer to new heights.”
Designed to provide easy access to METARs, TAFs, NOTAMs and pop-up TFRs within a traffic control area, the PilotGEEK Briefer works from either a web base or a cellular phone. The PilotGEEK Briefer also supplies access to local ASOS and AWOS phone numbers, eliminating the need for pilots to go rummaging through their Airport Facilities Directory.
Additionally, the PilotGEEK Briefer implements an alert system that sends text messages to your cell phone when the weather changes at your specified airports. The PilotGEEK Briefer also checks for local TFRs and will text message information about pop-ups in the area of the specified airports.
The computer version of the PilotGEEK Briefer provides a complete briefing overview of weather and trip data.
And the PilotGEEK Briefer will even tell you which airports “have weather reporting.” All you have to do is type in the airport you’re currently at and it will provide up to 10 of the closest METARs and up to five of the nearest TAFs.
The requirements to utilize the PilotGEEK Briefer are minimal. All you need is a cellular phone with web access or text messaging.
